"The Crush"

The time to go, if. . .

This is a wonderful time to visit wineries,

• IF you can get there at that time. Most people have kids going back to school in September, so late Sept. to early Oct. is not a good time. Sorry.
• IF you can find a place to stay. Reserve early. Months early.
• IF you can afford it. The crush is the high season in wine country.

But this is a great time to go: not hot, not cold, lots of activity. Unfortunately, popular, therefore crowded, and expensive. Ah, but there is also the smell.
