Odd clouds
[Alert reader Dr. Jones pointed out that Tales 32 and 33 may never have been
sent. Checking my records, he is correct. They were prepared but never
mailed. So sorry. Herewith a flood of Tales containing a trickle of idea.]
Strange sky today, very strange. When I left work, about 7, most of the sky
was clear except for a very dark gray to the south. The parking lot slopes
away from the building in that direction so walking to the car I get a long
view of that part of the sky. Looked like the color of rain clouds, but
featureless, just dark gray. No clouds really, just clear straight up,
threatening dark to the south.
Driving home, to the west, the sky in front of me is grayish yellow, a flat,
dull color that I don't remember ever seeing before. Yesterday there was an
odd thing, too. There were two layers of clouds. The high clouds were just
sitting there, normal white blobs, cottony puffs. The lower layer, though,
was weird. They were moving quickly in the wind, which is not unusual. It
is very windy here this time of year, twenty-thirty miles an hour much of
the time, and gusts in the forties. But these clouds were yellow. Not just
a little hint of color. Bright yellow.
Today there are no clouds really, maybe a few wisps, just this haze down by
the horizon.
