A Bubba-Air-Conditioned Van
Coming up US Rt. 183 one afternoon, there is a van in the left lane with a house air conditioner in the rear window. I have heard Click and Clack joking about such appendages, but I have never seen one. This specimen in front of me is an Econoline-style van, brown, with Texas plates. In the window of the left hand back door is a plain room air conditioner, you know, the kind that runs on 110V plugged into the wall. Huh? they must have one helluvan inverter to run something that size.
Amazingly, or maybe not even surprisingly, this van modification is not unique. Recently I saw another one, this time a nice conversion van with big side windows and comfy seats. But there's the rusty room air conditioner sticking out of the driver's side rear window. I try to imagine the hacksawing and brazing and caulking required to fit it in there securely.
